A  Letter From The Owner

Hi,

If you were to ask me who my favorite person was when I was a little girl, I’d say it was my grandmother “Grandy”. It was a combination of ‘Grand’ and ‘Granny’ (a name I affectionately made up at the tender age of eight or nine). I was very proud of the nickname, and she was too.

We did everything together. When she’d come and visit, I was always in her room listening to her stories or watching her do our laundry, cook for the family, or regularly gulping down Apple Cider Vinegar because she claimed it cured all ills.

She would also take me on errands. Some of those errands consisted of helping at the local food bank. From the age of six I was passing out food and toiletries to families who desperately needed them.

I didn’t think of it as community service I just knew that I’d have more time to spend with my Grandy -- plus I got candy as payment! I continued to assist with volunteer projects as a teenager not realizing the positive impact community service would have on my life and the lives of others. The need to help others continued into adulthood. From assisting the elderly with learning how to use computers, reading to kids at the library, community outreach, even training to become a CNA.

Later in life, on a Fall Day in 2017, I found myself in a tight spot financially. As tight a spot financially as those families I used to serve as a child. I had just lost my job and was trying not to let being out of work get me down. So, instead of sitting inside, I decided to water my plants in the hallway outside my apartment door not remembering I had left the windows open earlier to catch a breeze. If only I hadn’t. Just as I bent to water my potted plant sitting on the floor, I heard the horrid slam of my door behind me. You see the cross-draft from the open window really gave it excellent force. And my heart sank as I patted my pocket and realized I didn’t have my keys. So. There I was jobless, darn near close to tears, and now I had to find a locksmith. When I forked over the $300 that should have gone to pay my utility bills to pay the locksmith, I’d had it. Think about it…I was being charged hundreds of dollars for underestimating a gust of wind...

That’s when Keysurance was born.

And since then, I’ve had the opportunity to ensure more people don’t find themselves in the same predicament as I did. Giving people the peace of mind knowing that their extra key will not only be safely stored but also delivered to them with fast and friendly service is one of the greatest rewards of being the owner of this company.

And I hope to continue to serve my community and you.

Best regards,

Jordann Sherwood
